  • Fertility: Requires 3 to 4 lbs. N/1,000 ft2 /year.

Pedigree

Discovered in 1954 in a seed lot of African bermudagrasses from Johannesburg, South Africa, Tifway (Tifton 419) was selected and tested cooperatively by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Coastal Plain Experiment Station and the U.S. and Southern Golf Associations. It was released in 1960.
